Sean M. Smith has dedicated his legal career to defending individuals facing criminal charges in Worcester County and throughout Massachusetts. With over fifteen years of courtroom experience, he has represented clients in matters ranging from misdemeanor offenses to life felonies, consistently delivering thorough, strategic advocacy.
Before founding Smith & Carter, LLP, Sean served as a public defender, where he developed a deep understanding of how the criminal justice system operates — and where it can be challenged. That experience informs every case he takes on today.

Rebecca M. Carter has always had a passion for criminal defense. Before founding Smith & Carter, LLP, she dedicated her entire legal career to defending individuals facing criminal charges throughout Worcester County.
Attorney Carter is certified to take criminal appointments in the District and Superior Courts, handling criminal matters at every stage of trial proceedings. She also represents individuals prior to arraignment before the Clerk Magistrate, and those facing allegations of violations of probation.
